By January 21, 2023No Comments

History of Orchha in brief –

The city was established by 1st King of Orchha and Bundel chief – Rudra Pratap Singh who also built Orchha fort (One of the main monuments in the village). Orchha was continuously developing after 1st king also and Chaturbhuj Temple built by queen of Orchha, and Raj Mandir was built by ‘Raja Madhukar Shah’ during his reign 1554 – 1531).

Personal experience –

I have been many times to this lovely and very small village, but it was always worth to visit. One of the main reasons to like this village is small but very diverse including beautiful monuments – Lord Ram temple, Chaturbhuj Temple, Betwa riverside, vegetables market, Chhatriya (Royal Crematorium), Orchha fort (Jahangir Palace and Raja Mahal), Rai Praveen Mahal, and some old gardens like Phool Bagh.

Orchha has huge potential for rural tourism where people from different part of the world including domestic tourists can come and experience this beautiful place. The best way to visit this small village is by walk and during walk you can experience the best thing.

What to visit here –

The main attraction of Orchha is Orchha fort which includes Jahangir Palace and Raja Mahal. Apart from this you can visit Ram Raja Temple, Chaturbhuj Temple, Chhattriya (Royal Crematorium).

When to visit –

The best time to visit is October to March.

Where to stay –

There are many options to stay in Orchha including 5 start hotel (Orchha Palace, Hotel Bundelkhand River Side, Orchha Resort, Amar Mahal etc.) to budget guesthouse (Temple View, MPT Betwa Retreat etc.). It depends where you want to stay. I prefer

How to reach –

To reach Orchha, you have to reach Jhansi (18 KM) and Jhansi is well connected by rail route. By road also possible to reach but its time taking and journey can be difficult. Train is very comfortable to reach here from Delhi or Agra.
